There are so many places to go,  but today I’ll hide in a song.  Let the lyrics be blood  rushing through each vein,  ringing true in both my head  and my heart.  Let the beat slide neatly into  place, a pulse to push me  on.  I’ll move to the melody,  animate my lifeless corpse,  nerves twitching with delight.  My soul knows that  tomorrow  I may not be able to breathe  deep in harmonies and chords.  But today I hide here.  I pretend that life is as simple  as a solitary song.

Ethereal, floating  on the wind,  nothing could touch you.  Nothing to feel.   
And nothing would hurt you.   
A ghost,  you slip past existence.  Pushing through,  passing on.   
With no one to say your name.   
Keener senses  cannot lie.  A muffled cry,  and whispers in the dark.   
I can still feel you.   
You search for something  as I, unable to fill that wanting  void,  stumble quietly through grief.   
Do not despair, you will say.   
For I am neither living, nor dead.   The Ghost

The Storm PassesThe Storm Passes   
The rain gives birth  to tiny blossoms  of thought,  growing in my brain  until  the petals float away.   
I write letters to you  in my head,  beginning  ending  the same way  every time.   
The rush of slick  freeway, the trickle  of man-made drain,  and I know the only way  to end  this feeling is to cut   
myself off.  Forget, move on,  repress.  We could pretend,  but never commit  to the loss.

Clocking OutClocking Out   
The forgetful delights  of a Friday night  stretch their lazy  and wild  possibilities before me.   
As we near another  full moon  I breathe deep the scent of  summertime blues  and burning fires.   
Loud music and  loud talk amidst  empty shot glasses  and cigarette ashes  call me.   
This night will not  be one of vice  but of sly smiles  piano notes  and that beautiful disease   
I call nostalgia.
